ILLiad is Dominican University's new Interlibrary Loan service and web platform for requesting items from libraries worldwide. This FAQ guide will help you to register and request items using ILLiad.

What is ILLiad?

ILLiad is Dominican University's new Interlibrary Loan service for requesting items that are not available through I-Share from libraries worldwide.

What is the difference between ILLiad and I-Share?

I-Share enables you to search and borrow books from 86 libraries across Illinois.

For books and articles that are not available at Dominican or in I-Share, ILLiad allows you to place a request from libraries worldwide. Requests can be made by completing an ILLiad request form, searching WorldCat, or from any of the online databases.

Who can use ILLiad?

All interlibrary loan services are only available to current Dominican students, faculty and staff.

How do I register for ILLiad?

In order to request items through ILLiad, you will first need to create an ILLiad account. You can create an account by going to the Dominican ILLiad Login page by clicking on "Request an Item" from the library's home page and then clicking on the link "First Time Users."

How do I request items in ILLiad?

In order to request items through ILLiad, you will first need to create an ILLiad account (see above). Once you have created an account, you may request an item by searching WorldCat, and clicking on the "Request through Interlibrary Loan" button:

You can request an article that is not available in any of Dominican's databases by clicking on the "Find full text in other databases" link in EBSCO and then on "Submit an Interlibrary Loan Photocopy Request:

You may also place a request manually by logging into your account and filling out a form for the book, book chapter, or article you need with the appropriate citation information.

How will I know when my request has arrived?

You will recieve an email at the Dominican email address you used to create your account when your request as arrived.

How can I pick up my items?

Books can be picked up at the main circulation desk just like an I-Share request. Articles will be delivered to your ILLiad account, you will need to log into your account and click on "Electronically Delivered Articles" to view, save, or print your articles. Please Note: Your article will only be available for 5 views or 30 days, whichever comes first.

How can I check on the status of a request?

You may check on a request by logging into your account. Your home page will list all outstanding requests. The column on the far left will tell you the current status of the request. The following table will help you understand the various statuses.

Awaiting Odyssey Processing An article request has been received electronically and is being processed by the ILL staff.
Awaiting Borrowing Scanning An article request has been received and is being processed for electronic delivery by the ILL staff.
Awaiting Other Request Processing We have worked on your request, but it is not ready to be sent to potential lenders.
Awaiting Copyright Clearance We are checking to see if a copyright fee is required to obtain the requested article.
Awaiting ALA Processing The lender for this item requires a paper form (the ALA form) to be sent via fax, U.S. mail, or other electronic means. We are processing the ALA form to keep your request active.
Awaiting Customer Contact The requested material has arrived, but the customer has not yet been contacted.
Awaiting Customer Response The customer has been contacted regarding a question with the request. Once the customer responds to the email the request will then be sent or canceled.
Awaiting Doc Provider Processing Because of availability or copyright restrictions, we must obtain your item from a commercial document provider. We are processing this request.
Awaiting Post Receipt Processing The requested material has arrived, but is not yet ready for pickup.
Awaiting Request Processing We have received your request and it has gone through the copyright clearance process. We will now try to locate potential lenders.
Awaiting Renewal Request The customer has requested a renewal on this item. We are waiting for a response for the lending library.
Cancelled by ILL The request has been cancelled for a specific reason. Please see the e-mail that was sent when it was cancelled.
Checked Out to Customer The item has arrived, been processed by the ILL staff and checked out to the customer.
Customer Notified via E-Mail The item has arrived, been processed by the ILL staff and the customer has been notified.
Delivered to Web The item has arrived, been processed by the ILL staff and posted to the customer's ILLiad account.
In Electronic Delivery Processing An article request has been received electronically and is being processed by the ILL staff.
Item Checked In The item has been returned by the customer, checked in the ILL staff and is waiting return processing.
Lost Books Customer has reported this book is lost or damaged. ILL staff is awaiting invoice/replacement charges from the lending library.
Received Incorrect/Partial Item The item received either does not match requested item or is incomplete. The ILL staff is correcting the problem.
Request Finished The request has been successfully processed and completed. Requests with this status are archived under "View/Request History" button. (Cancelled requests are not considered finished requests and can be found under the "View/Resubmit Cancelled Requests" button). Books have been returned to the lending library.
Request Sent The request has been sent by ILL staff. We are waiting for a lender to ship the item.
